The Road or a Mule

Yesterday was delightfully cool.  The daytime high was only 96F with 13% humidity.  It was quite a treat as I haven’t seen temperatures like that since early May.  I’d gone out shooting the last two days just before sunset but abandoned the photographs on both days because the bellows were blowing so steadily in the wind, there was little chance I’d make a sharp photograph.  Today the wind let up a little and I was able to expose one of a road, badland, and a really fantastic shadow.  I hope it turns out and I really hope there are no light leaks this time.  I wasn’t quite ready to return home after that so I decided to find a road that would save me a hike to an area I want to have a look at.  In desert stranded time, where there are telephone poles you can be certain there are roads.  I found the poles (which might be in use) and the road (which isn’t in regular use), drove it halfway out, but it got sandy and rough so I turned around, headed back, and found access from a different angle.  The only trouble with the other route is that it’s difficult to distinguish the faint dirt road from the surrounding landscape which has ridges and cliffs.  One way or another I’m getting out there.  It’s the road or I rent a mule.
