It’s really cold in the desert this week. I’ve dug out my winter clothes and found my snow suit. The high today was 43F and it was only 10° warmer in Death Valley. I was there yesterday and went to the park thinking it would be much warmer than it was when I pulled into Twenty Mule Team Canyon. Luckily I had all of those jackets from last spring that somehow got tossed over my shoulder into the back of my truck, so I layered, hiked up a ridge, and stuck my head under my focusing cloth to keep my ears warm in that really chilly wind.
