RSSI’ve made it half way through summer. Temperatures this month are staying steady above 100F and usually hover around 110F. My efforts to keep the swamp cooler running cold have proven useless, however, the low fidelity water cooling system in my darkroom is maintaining a temperature of 75F. That’s an accomplishment, in my humble opinion, considering the cold water here can trickle as hot as 120F. With the heat of summer compounding the isolation here, I’ve done little things to take the edge off like fixing the air conditioning in my Landcruiser, getting satellite broadband to stay in touch with the rest of the world, and installing a small A/C unit in my darkroom. Those little things have made all the difference in the world. The next gadget I’m springing for is a personal locator beacon since there’s no cell coverage here. While summer has been a challenge I’ve put my time to good use and have been keeping things rolling along. I’m completing my testing for BTZS, and I’m looking forward to applying this new workflow. I’m celebrating with a trip north to Bodie in August. Can’t wait to shoot 8×10 there. :-)
