Orchid Study – Gravure – AP
March 14th, 2009 by laura | Filed under Laura Campbell Fine Art.This was made on a KM-73 plate. The exposure was 18 units under the transparency, and 18 units under the aquatint screen in a Nuarc. The plate was washed out with a sponge for about 1 minute. 4″x5″ on BFK Rives, in burnt umber. Made on a Takach press. The story behind this orchid is it’s the only orchid I’ve ever had that hasn’t died on me. I have it set up in the main room in the house under a skylight near a heater. When I photographed the orchid, light was streaming in through a window across the room, creating specular highlights on the adobe wall behind the orchid. It was quite a sight .
