We leave in 10 days and the storage unit that I rented in the valley is almost full. I’ll pinhole it tomorrow so you can see what I mean. It looks as though I’m leaving the darkroom gear in storage until we find a place to live. Since we’re down to one set of wheels, there’s not enough room for us, the dog, and all the gear so it seems logical to leave the darkroom in storage. I have two large Navy surplus containers that go on the roof of the Toyota for camping gear. This is a really nice set up as it keeps the interior of the car open for car camping. Meanwhile, a few opportunities have come up and I’m trying to figure out what to do. I was going to hold off on buying another house but now that I’m about to become officially homeless in 10 days, I’m finding myself looking at the MLS online and dreaming about setting up a little nest. This nest is off-grid, located on a dirt road, with views of the mountains. It’s small and simple with room for a vegetable garden and a place for all our solar shower bags that we took on our trip to the Eastern Sierra. I have to say, I really enjoy camping in the great outdoors and it was a pleasure living outside last spring. I’m hoping to recreate that at my next home but with a little shade and a windbreak.
Here’s a photo that I found in a box of throw-away prints that never got thrown away. It was taken at the cemetery in Darwin, California with a Zero45.
