Daydreaming and Land Yachts

My cyanotype chemicals are due to arrive on my doorstep in the next couple of hours.  Since my street is usually last on the delivery route, it’s tempting to intercept the driver as he’s on his way uptown but it’s too hot outside today and my swamp cooler is working too well.  Alas, I’ll enjoy the breeze provided by this modern convenience as it won’t be too long before I’m roughing it again in our road-weary tent.  Speaking of roads, my latest daydream involves living on a grassy meadow, where I can come and go in a vintage land yacht, preferably one with an aluminum exterior draped in purple lights.  I can already see the license plate but I can’t quite make out what it says yet.  Meanwhile, I received word that one of my pieces was chosen for a show at the 440 Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.  The show is being curated by David Humphrey who selected 85 entries out of about 600.  Pretty neat, don’t cha think? Today I decided on matting and framing materials. After having a very enjoyable time looking at possibilities, I chose a brilliant bright white mat and a simple brushed aluminum frame.  The combination of the two with the photograph provides an almost playful sense of starkness and minimalism.  Very modern.  And when it’s back from the show it’ll look great hanging inside my vintage land yacht.  Maybe by then, I will have come up with an appropriate license plate.
