Test Print Day 4: Pinhole-Palladium

May 24th, 2008 by laura | Filed under Laura Campbell Fine Art.

Today’s testing was not as much of a disaster as the testing I did yesterday.  I worked out a few problems I was having with the digital negative and with handcoating.  So here we are with a more acceptable test print.  The original print was scanned and transfered to Pictorico transparency, this time with a yellow color fill.  I used the Crane paper again, with 7-4-12 drops and a single, heavy coat of sensitizing solution.  The exposure in the UV light box was 143 seconds.  The image was developed in ammonium citrate with a few drops of 1 percent gold chloride to cool the hue.

Cool stuff. I’ve always wanted to try this. If they ever quit making silver gelatin paper, I might have to!

There sure are a lot of variables to get nailed down in the work flow, but, I’m sure it is worth it once you do!

    Good luck! Post more! :)
